Entomobryomorpha are the classic elongated, fast-moving springtails that most people in the hobby know. Many of the common “tropical springtails” and “white springtails” belong to this group, including genera like Sinella, Coecobrya and Entomobrya. They have a slender body and a well-developed furcula, which allows them to jump quickly when disturbed.
In bioactive setups, Entomobryomorpha work as an efficient cleanup crew, feeding on mold, decaying matter and leftover food. Because of their activity and strong jumping ability, they tend to stay on the surface layers and are easily visible on wood, leaves and glass, making them a popular choice for display terrariums and naturalistic enclosures.
